I went back to my friends garden on Friday!

I went back to my friends garden on Friday and it rained again!  I could return and return and return, wherever you look there are beautiful plants, every shade of green and lots of tropical flowers.

Some water colour paintings of glass.

Since I did a demo on Saturday at Galeria Arte Florida of painting glass with water colour I thought I would post a few of my paintings.   I like the challenge, the piecing it all together a bit like a jigsaw puzzle.

Some water colours done in a friends garden today.

A friend is leaving and asked me to do some water colours in her garden.  It has been horribly hot for days/weeks, with little rain but last night there was a storm and then today it rained for most of the morning.  If anything it made things better, cooler, everything washed a bright bright green.   The place is yet another peace of heaven in a crazy city.  What an honour to spend the morning there doing what I enjoy.   Hopefully I can go back.  as everywhere you look there is another great view.

Hacienda La Trinidad AGAIN!

I thought this would be the last time I would visit here for now,  but then the girl who organises things told me that she was supposed to take some before, after and between photos of me painting and had forgotten so.... maybe one more visit this year!  I got there really early this morning, before 7am so got quite a lot done but am not happy with the tapara tree trunk!

Hacienda La Trinidad

I never get bored of this place.  It really is an oasis of tranquility, at least during the week.   They have a project going and asked Doris and me for sketches.  The photos I had of previous works are not of a good enough quality  and I no longer have any of the pieces here so I spent two mornings there this week and will have to go back.   I also did a pen and ink sketch today of the trapiche but did not take a photo of it.  The works will stay at the Hacienda for now until the project is complete.

Parque Los Chorros

A great morning with the urban sketcher group.  Have been to this park lots of times but today the water was really low, and it is rainy season!   We walked back down and passed the Uruguayan club, three of us walked in, watched a tango class and had a really good argentine steak for lunch.  Great end to a productive morning! Photo of the group,  thanks to David and of me at the water fall,   thanks to Helena.

This weeks production

Haven´t done too much this week, not really been in the mood.   Doris kindly offered me a ride to Colonia Tovar, a german style village about an hour out of Caracas up in the mountains.   This is a popular place during the weekends and holidays.   German sausages, lots of fruits and vegetables on sale.
Then on Sunday we were back at the USKCCS exhibit at the Ateneo.  It is such a peaceful place with a great view across the city.

In Plaza Bolivar with Circulo de Dibujo

There is a week of celebrations for the 448 years of the founding of Caracas.  Today there were fiery political speeches in the Plaza Bolivar whilst we sketched there.  The Plaza was packed and sadly I was packed and ready to go when three  Guajira women in stunning dresses walked through.  There is a beautiful little building next to the Gobernacion and no one knew what is was so I went in and asked.  It is an administrative building for the Capital District and is called Edificio Chataing, just like the popular comic.   Max told me that it was his grandfather that designed the building.   You can hardly see the building in my sketch but... never mind!

Celebrating 448 years of Caracas

Today USKCCS met at the Ateneo and it happens to be the anniversary of the city.  We took food, drink, arrived really early as the city is dead.   It is a long weekend and everyone is either queueing at the Bicentanario looking for subsidised food  in San Bernardino or at the beach.  Doris got from one side of the city to the other in about 15 minutes and it took us no time at all to get to the Ateneo.  It really is an oasis, tranquil with fabulous views.    All together a great morning in good company.

Hoy el USKCCS reunio en el Ateneo.   Por casualidad es el aniversario de Caracas.  Llevamos comida y bebida y llegamos bien temprano.

USKCCS exhibition 19.7.15

The urban sketchers exhibit opened today in The Ateneo.   The place is a little out of the way, although the metro bus does go by.  It is a beautiful house,  Max, Cesar, Judith Alba and Maria Teresa did a sterling job of putting up a wide variety of sketches by many of the group.  The following video was put together by Max and is great.
