As soon as I start sketching people get up and walk off, they must have some kind of built in alarm system. I wanted to do a coloured version from the back window of the sitting room but landed up zooming in and not including so may rooftops and chimneys.

From the sitting room.
I moved to the back of the sitting room today to sketch but got totally confused drawing all the roofs, chimney pots, extensions and fences. Decided it was just too complicated to try and add colour. I might do the same view again tomorrow but go in first with colour then draw.

Last one from the kitchen
The sun was bright today so lots of shadows. The paper in this sketch book is rather thin so not the best for water colour washes.

from the kitchen window again
This took longer than I expected, when I started it was quite dull, by the time I finished the sun had come out but I decided to ignore all the shadows...

Easter Monday
After almost of week of sunshine and very warm days this morning was grey and chilly. The wind has changed direction and everyone is back in coats, hats and gloves. I have been wanting to sketch the view from the back of the flat for ages, finally made a start.

Easter Sunday
It seems like forever that we have been in lock down, 3 weeks? Just checked, here in the UK it started on the 23rd of March so we our finishing the third week. Since then we have had some beautiful weather after a long grey winter so staying in has been hard. So... I sit on the balcony and watch the world go by. Our caretaker who spends his life disinfecting door handles and lift buttons, the gardener who comes every Sunday and passersby who come on their way to walk along the seafront.

this week
It has been beautifully bright and sunny. Spending mornings on the balcony. Last night our little local sketch group met on line, it was nice to catch up.

Got out and cleaned a Japanese Sailor Pen that I bought ages ago
Now I know why it had sat around unused, I found it quite difficult to work with. I bought it after reading comments by some Urban Sketchers, I think I prefer using an ordinary fountain pen.
